This walk on the Orobie Prealps is rich of history. During its four miles to go on foot, it does relive with the spirit and heart, in few hours, the same feeling of an ancient pilgrim. It starts walking along the hitoric load that from Sacco (Valgerola) leads to the Dosso, a Cosio fraction and small residential nucleus inhabited all over the year. Venturing into the he woods among plays of light and shadows, shortly after is possible to see the Mill of Dosso on the Riofiume bank. It’s a pleasant and cool locality at the foot of the Fula waterfall. The mill, restored in recent years, now is balk tu run perfectly with the devices still in wood and stone, working with the power of water.
In the Mill of Dosso Museum between tradition and rural culture can be seen what once was used to squeeze, crush, grind and mill: an ancient wine press to squeeze the grapes that were cultivated in Bema, a village on the opposite side of the valley; an oil mill-flour mill with manual function. The Pila: medieval familiar mill rediscovered Costa locality, near by Sacco, of the Fifteenth century, which was used to husk barley and grind grain and chestnuts.
Going through chestnut woods, immersed in the fascination of quietness, you reach Rasura at 800 meters of altitude along the route of the road leading to the passes of Gerola, known before the Ninth century. Here noteworthy is the romantic parish of San Giuseppe church with its precious relics and the lombard organ of Seicento.
Nearby the Etnographic Museum, which testifies the rural past and its traditions, prior booking, you can have lunch at the local village called Campagnola where is possible to eat our yellow polenta, cheeses and other typical products of the valley.
Continuing on the scenic road will appear the Mellarolo village with its background of majestic mountains and their snow-capped peaks. Contacting Mr. Diego Zugnoni it is possible to visit the cheese dairy and buy genuine food.
The journey continues on the path, surrounded by green slopes of the Orobic versant, that goes down toward Sacco where is placed the Homo Salvadego Museum with its Picta room of 1664. There is a possibility here to visit the church dedicated to San Lorenzo, rich in relics and paintings, among them the portrait of Bona Lombarda that in this place was born.
Here ends the Hum Salvadeg walk through breathtaking nature, to be told but above all to remember over time. |
