HOW TO REACH THE PLACE: Comfortably with the bus Morbegno-Gerola getting off at the "DOSSO" stop. Then you go down a stairway leading to the hamlet and after a few steps going right you see the mill. From Rasura on foot you reach it through an easy muletrack.
It can also be reached by private car from Sacco following the signs "Museovanseraf - Dosso" on the Picco road (asphalted road for cars only) that leads to the vicinity of the Mill.
Visits to the Mill:
Program N° 1:
Free visit - Open on Saturday and Sunday from 14pm till 18 from April to November.
It’s a dip into the past to rediscover the Valtellina miller history, the habits and customs of
its people.
Program N° 2 (20.00 euro per person)
Visit the Mill Dosso with a guide - Miller and crafts art history - Corn milling Will be viewed
medieval “pila” with double mortar – Oil-mill of the Costa locality to draw oil from the nuts
of XI century – Mill discovered at Sacco dated 1667 – Press of San Bello – Facilities
of lost trades
Visit to the outdoor section of the museum at SACCO INFERIORE (1 Km of distance) of old rural houses dating from the XV - XVII - XVIII XV - XVII - XVIII centuries..
Visit to Vaninetti’s house where you can view the loom of Ursula Zugnoni from Mellarolo
(1800) and the ancient wine cellar with a winepress.
Visit the walnut and chestnut grove that saves the variety of the chestnut known as
“marroncino of Sacco”. In addition, the program includes lunch at the Hotel San Marco
based on local products including polenta with the rare corn flour
called "Red Valtellina”.
It is possible to effectuate this visit every day booking by phone or via the Internet
and for groups of 4/5 people.
Program N° 3 (for school groups):
Every day by calling or sending a mail - guided tour – possibilty to taste the polenta from
the variety of rare maize "Valtellina Rosso" and to do picnic with bread brought by the
students on visit.
